Prefectural capital: Gifu
A northern hida area is a mountain range. And there are mountains exceeding the altitude of 3000 m. The flat ground in Gifu Prefecture has only a few. It is a southern minou plain. There are a kiso river, a nagara river, and an ibi river in Gifu Prefecture. Especially the nagara river was chosen as the 100th elections of Japan name water. The rice crop is performed taking advantage of climate warm in the flat ground of a southwest part. In the cool area of summer, a tomato, a spinach, and a Japanese radish are grown. In mountain land, breeding of the cow is performed.
Craftsmanship is prosperous in Gifu Prefecture.
Industries are a fashion, a china, furniture, an edged tool, paper, a plastic, and food. The manufacturing industry is important industry for Gifu Prefecture.
Forestry is also prosperous in Gifu Prefecture of a mountain range. The quantity of output of a hinoki is Japanese top class. It produces various handicrafts.
